Notes on a sell-out

Sat Aug 04, 2007 at 09:57:45 AM PDT

Last night in America: Millions of heads, unsleeping, staring at night-darkened ceilings, feeling their souls take on the color of the night that surrounds them... First: "Impeachment is off the table"... Next: Giving Bush his war-funding bill, gutted of all timelines... Now: This, this FISA monstrosity that grants legitimacy and legal cover to the impeachable high crimes and misdemeanors of a power-drunk administration...

Inside those heads, names.... Webb... McCaskill...occasionally burst, illuminating the internal darkness with the hot, searing flames of a collective trust set afire by an incendiary betrayal... Casey...Klobuchar... why?... Why?... WHY???

Just a few thoughts from this long time lurker, infrequent commenter and now, first-time diarist...

I remember reading a book several years back entitled "Democracy Under Siege" by the late, great political author Walter Karp. In it, he discusses the aftermath of the 1976 presidential election, won by Jimmy Carter.  What could this possibly have to do with Ned Lamont's victory and Net Neutrality? See below the fold to find out...
